The Radiologic Technologist will perform complex radiological support at your designated Institution in the Federal Correctional Complex, under the supervision of the Health Services Administrator. Work requires familiarity with Health Services Policies and Procedures and of specific facility level policies. Routine work is reviewed periodically to determine compliance with established procedures. Unusual work problems are referred to the Health Services Administrator. Radiologic Technologists are expected to foster a team approach in the completion of critical tasks in the clinic. Radiologic Technologists are expected to take personal initiative to master all essential functions in the radiology clinic and assist in the training of other staff.
- High School degree or G.E.D.
- Graduate from an accredited education program in radiologic technology or an approved limited medical radiologic technology program.
- One year related experience.
- Current, unrestricted license in state of practice
Warm-up X-ray Tube and Processor/ Update daily QA logs. QA testing: Inspection of Leaded goods. QA testing: Safe Light Test and Darkroom light leak Test.
X-Ray scheduled, emergency, and walk-in patients per provider request. Enter status updates regarding X-ray patients. Enter patients into BOP Log Book. Create a schedule of appointments for X-ray exams. Register exams with Radiology group and print barcode sheets. Enter call outs in Sentry for X-ray patients.
Check email regularly and respond as needed. Maintain records of Dosimeter Reports. Maintain MSDS records and Bin cards. Create and send Radiology Monthly Totals Report to Health Services Administrator by the 10th of each month. Track and update six month INH refusal records in BEMR and in Desktop file.
Package films going to Radiologist for reading. Print Radiologist Reports from the Radiology Group website. Scan Reports into BEMR and send for Doctor's review. Update Report Status in BEMR. Compile requisitions and reports and file in patients film jacket. File film jackets to permanent records. Disposition incoming films from other institutions. Purge files, package and send transfers to their new unit of assignment.
For inmates with a history of positive PPD, check Sentry roster, and update as needed. Ensure CXR requisitions for inmates with a history of positive PPD and six month INH Refusals are created by CID or other nurse.
Weekly equipment wipe down. Weekly or as needed mixture of Developer and Fixer. Screen Cleaning. Order, receive, and store supplies. Clean processor. X-ray performance improvement audit. Maintain Eye Wash QA. Yearly Silver Recovery exchange.
Assist with obtaining vendors to fulfill Regulatory Requirements
Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
Post orders, if applicable, per site contract.
Perform other duties as assigned.
