The Lead Cook is responsible for scheduling work assignments of other food service personnel and ensuring meals are being served in quality and quantity to meet students’ needs. Establishes menus and verifies sufficient quantities of foodstuffs are being prepared
Directs the work flow of food service personnel Utilizes recipes and work sheets to plan amount of food needed and preparation methods Assists in the preparation of food Checks kitchen to ensure all work areas are kept clean and that safe work habits are being used Directs work of students who are assigned to the kitchen during assigned shift Checks kitchen at end of assigned shift to make sure all leftover foods are properly stored Monitors inventory of foodstuffs and requests additional food as necessary Assists in the preparation of reports as required Attends staff training sessions as required
Minimum: High school education or equivalent. Two years’experience in institutional food preparation. Serve-Safe certification required.
Preferred: Three or more years work-related experience
Knowledge Required: Individual should have well-developed habits of personal cleanliness and hygiene. Ability to obtain a state driver’s license. Must meet State or local food handling requirements, whichever are more restrictive. Knowledge of good nutrition. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
